Take The Floor is a brand new departure in what has traditionally been perceived as an ‘Irish dance show’. 10 days is the time-frame in which this full scale production is created and staged. Take The Floor is the brainchild of two Irish entrepreneurs Paula Goulding & Shane McAvinchey.

Both former Riverdance members and highly acclaimed choreographer / performers, Paula & Shane wanted to create an experience unlike any other for aspiring Irish dancers. Take The Floor is now the gateway to these dancers professional careers.

Shane has been involved in productions such as “Riverdance – The Show,” “The High Kings,” “Dancing Thru the Ages” and “Ragús.” He is the co-owner of Irish cultural social networking and online learning platform Diddlyi.com and also co-directs the Tir na nOg Irish Dance School which has locations in Germany, Poland and Russia. Shane starred in Irish dance feature documentary film “Jig” which had worldwide theatrical release in 2011.

Paula performed with Riverdance for 7 years, was dance captain of the Broadway production and principal understudy. She directed and produced “Dancing Thru’ the Ages” and also appeared on RTE’s “Celebrity Jigs n’ Reels” where she coached celebrities and was crowned 2007 champion. Having choreographed for various productions including The Story So Far, the 2011 Irish Harp Orchestra tour and Dancing Thru’ The Ages she has also choreographed for The BA students dance curriculum at Limerick University. Paula toured with The Chieftains and also performed lead roles with many other productions. She is also a Colour, Style and Image Consultant and regularly runs fashion events, tutorial classes and charity fundraisers.

Both Directors are excited to bring their project ‘Take The Floor’ to life through the passion and dedication of the talented dance stars and creative team involved!
